SUBMIT AN ACTION

note: we're working on a fully automated submission system, but in the meantime, please follow these instructions to submit via email.

what the heck is this?

We'd like to reward you for doing something cool for your community. If you email us evidence of an action you've done for your community recently, we will send you high quality FLAC files of this release, and with your permission include you in a special forthcoming web exhibition of submissions, and potential new york or new orleans gallery exhibitions we're planning in the future.

great! so what exactly is an 'action'?

An action is anything creative you have done (not for profit or sale!) that you've shared with your community. Pretty vague huh? Maybe we can help you understand the spirit of what we mean with a few examples:

  1. making your own zine and leaving it around your neighborhood.
  2. droplifting a book you made into your local mega-bookstore.
  3. knitting a hat and giving it to a friend.
  4. hosting a jam session in your backyard and making copies of the recording for everyone you know.

does that help? what we really want to see is evidence of something you've made and shared with the people around you. not to profit from it, but just for the fun of doing it and connecting with someone around you. we really really love the simple act of community that takes place when we stop simply being consumers for a minute and do something for each other. you do this all the time already, and we want to do what we can to recognize and somehow encourage you to keep doing it! it's tons of fun, isn't it? we'll consider web-based stuff (we're mostly based on the web ourselves after all!) but we want to put out a special call for actions in the material world. we won't consider anything that you have sold or that you stand to profit from however.

i get it, what do i send you?

Please send us an explanation in 500 words or less of what you did, and any additional accompanying media that documents your action. We'd also love it if you read your explanation out loud and sent us a link to an mp3 of the recording. That's optional though. Other than the explanation the only requirement is some form of documentation: Link us to a flickr photoset that documents your action - upload a video on vimeo - put an audio recording on archive.org - scan the cover of your zine - etc. We will accept attachments if you absolutely must send them, but give some of the above free hosting solutions we mentioned a try first please. Email your links and description to us here: submit@luvsound.org

thank you so much for participating!
